Richard B. Barnard

BARNARD - Richard B. Age 84, a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Barbara F. (nee Frye) Barnard; father of Donald (Kathleen) Barnard, Brenda (Blake) Boyle, and Larrie (Molly) Barnard; son of the late Arthur and Myra (nee Long) Barnard; brother of Carole (Donald) Anderson and Douglas (Audrey) Barnard; also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Richard was a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, and had been employed as a Terminal Manager for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines in the City of Tonawanda. Because of his thorough understanding of hazardous materials, Richard became the City of Tonawnada’s first Director of Emergency Management. Through his efforts, the Disaster Preparedness Advisory Committee was formed. He also served on the City of Tonawanda Traffic Board and the Board of Elections. Richard had an interest in tool collecting and enjoyed tinkering with outboard motors. There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 16th at 1:30 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda. Interment will be private in Parry Sound, Ontario.
