Armonde “Jack” Evans Obituary

Evans,  Armonde S. “Jack”
Age 89, of the City of Tonawanda, died May 17, 2022 under the care of his sons and Hospice of Buffalo. Loving husband of 58 years to Marlene Evans; father of Hugh and Randy; father-in-law to Claire; grandfather to granddaughters Mattelein and Erika. He was proceeded in death by his wife, his father Howard, his mother Vera and his sister Beverly. A longtime resident of Tonawanda, Armonde enlisted in the Army National Guard and Reserve before the Korean War and served continuously until the late 50's, as a lineman and motorized mechanic of the artillery. Armonde was honorably discharged as a veteran in 1958, full of stories of the men he served with and the experiences they endured. He pursued his mechanical skills to become a journeyman machinist, specializing in die sinking and forging. He worked 32 years for GM of Tonawanda as a Tool & Die machinist. He volunteered with his love for baseball by serving as coach for the American Little League youth of the city he cherished during the 1970's. Jack enjoyed travelling with his family, camping and hiking throughout the natural regions of New York and New England. His greatest joy however, was being with his granddaughters in his final years which he loved and cared for tremendously.
A private ceremony will be held among family members celebrating his life.
