Corrine "Corky" Arland Lyons

Corrine "Corky" Arland Lyons, 75, passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born in Buffalo, New York, Corky spent most of her life in the surrounding communities of the City of Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, and Amherst. She also spent several years living in Columbia, Maryland, before returning to Western New York. Corky dedicated her life to caring for others. Throughout the years, she worked as a caregiver, was a devoted stay-at-home mom, worked at American Rubber, Bristol Village, and in home health care. Later in life, she retired to help raise her grandchildren, one of the greatest joys of her life. No matter where life took her, caring for others was always at the heart of everything she did. Family was everything to Corky. She was the mom who never missed a soccer game, always volunteered to help, and somehow found room for every friend who walked through the door. She was the "cool mom" everyone wanted to be around, but more importantly, she became one of her daughters' best friends. She had an incredible ability to make people feel loved, welcomed, and accepted. She gave without expecting anything in return and always put the needs of others before her own. She was unapologetically honest, even when it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Her advice was always given with love, and those closest to her knew they could count on her for the truth, a listening ear, and unwavering support. Corky found joy in celebrating life's moments, both big and small. Every holiday was a reason to decorate, and her basement was filled with tote after tote of decorations collected over the years. Each season transformed her home, inside and out, creating memories that her family will cherish forever. She loved being outdoors—whether tending to her flowers, feeding the birds, watching hummingbirds visit her yard, or simply sitting outside watching her grandchildren play. She never needed to be in the middle of the action; she was happiest simply being present, surrounded by the people she loved. She also had a deep love for animals and found peace in nature and the simple beauty it offered. To know Corky was to know unconditional love. She welcomed everyone with open arms and had a way of making people feel like family. Whether you needed a place to go, someone to listen, honest advice, or simply a friend, Corky was there. Her greatest gift wasn't anything she could give—it was the way she made people feel when they were with her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Busch and George Busch. She is survived by her brother, Fred Busch; her sister, Maureen Busch; her daughters, Melissa Huttenmaier, Ashley Hunter (Scott), and Kayla Lyons; her beloved grandchildren, Christina Wagner, Samantha Gregoire (Tanner), Michael Socha, and Carson Socha; her cherished great-grandson, Keegan Gregory; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her..Corky's greatest legacy is not measured by the places she worked, but by the love she shared, the family she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. She taught those around her the importance of showing up for one another, celebrating life's moments, and always putting family first. .She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered every time a hummingbird visits, a holiday decoration is unpacked, children laugh while playing outside, or family gathers together. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in each of us. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 4-6 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts) City of Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 6 PM. Everyone is welcome.
