Duane Crawford passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, September 10. 2024. Born June 26, 1932, Duane was an avid gardener known for his vibrant garden, community service, and sense of humor. A former Grand Master of the Tonawanda chapter of the Masons and member of the Exchange Club, Duane also dedicated his time to the Queen City Chordsmen where his knowledge and reworking of songs into barbershop harmony were enjoyed by audiences for decades. After his retirement as a stockbroker, he taught licensing classes at Bryant and Stratton and wasn’t above trading a homecooked meal for private tutoring to help his students get through their rigorous exams. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Duane was always willing to offer a helping hand unless the Bills were playing that afternoon. Duane is survived by his sister Adele Pillitteri of Clovis, CA, ex-wife June Crawford of Grand Island, NY, son Martin Crawford of Tonawanda, NY, daughter Jennifer Forth (James Day) of Lawrence, KS, grandson Declan Forth (QuyenTran) of Lenexa, KS, grandson Logan Forth of Kansas City, MO, and a large extended family in Pennsylvania. They will remember him for his free rhubarb, love of strawberry shortcake, and fondness for bagpipes. A Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, November 29, 2024 at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 11 AM. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at a nearby restaurant. Everyone is welcome.
