LARGE - Gerald “Jerry”

Age 85, of the City of Tonawanda, May 28, 2019, under the care of Hospice. Father of Debra (Monico) Flores, Valerie (Liz), Gerald (Christine), Jeffrey (Jessica), Jodi (Oscar), and Alyssa Large; grandfatherof Amber, Nicolas, Katie, Lauren, Brayden, Meghan, Ella, and Franky; great-grandfather of Iliana, Mila, and Lukeus;son of the late Gerald L. and Lucille A. (nee Heibron) Large; brother of the late Robert L. Large; brother-in-law of Delores Large; also survived by nieces and nephews. Jerry was a 1951 graduate of Tonawanda High School. He received two Master’s Degrees from Buffalo State College. He was a Special Education Teacher and College Administrator for the developmentally disabled. Jerry was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955 until 1957. Following his retirement, he co-owned Jake’s Bar & Grill on Adam Street in Tonawanda with his brother for 17 years and bartended until 2018. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 31st from 4-7 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, June 1st at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., in North Tonawanda. Everyone welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Hospice Buffalo or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
