August 24, 1955 - May 22, 2026 
Age 70 of the City of. Tonawanda, May 22, 2026 at his residence under the care of Hospice. Husband of 38 years to Cindy J. (nee Young) Litz, father of Matthew (Kristen) Litz, Allyson (Ryan) Custer and Benjamin (Brie) Litz, grandfather of Nolan, Eli, Kieran, Scarlett, Lyla, Wyatt, Raylan and Charleigh, son of the late William and Jean Litz, brother of William Litz and the late Carolyn DeZak and the late Lois Litz and brother in law of Michael (Denise) Young. Also survived by nieces and nephews. James had been employed by the City of Tonawanda Police Department for 33 years, retiring as Police Captain in 2010. He was a 1973 graduate of Tonawanda High School and received his Bachelor degree from Buffalo State College. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday May 28, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts) City of Tonawanda, where a Prayer Service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday following the visitation.
