Age 89, of North Tonawanda, died October 6, 2018, at Northgate Health Care Facility under the care of Niagara County Hospice. Wife of 63 years to the late William J. VanDewater who died in 2014; mother of William J. VanDewater, Jr. and James VanDewater of North Tonawanda, Michael (Sandra) VanDewater and Beth (Curt) Johnson of the Town of Tonawanda, Stephen (Joan) VanDewater of Denver, CO, Joseph VanDewater of Newfane, Richard (Beverly) VanDewater of Highlands Ranch, CO and Lawrence VanDewater of Durham, NC; also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Walter John and Sylvia (nee Clark) French. Friends may call Wednesday (October 10) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda. Burial Thursday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 10 AM in St. Matthew Cloister. Everyone welcome. June was a graduate of the Deaconess Hospital School of nursing and her earlier career focused on geriatric care. She retired from the NY State Department of Health after working there as a consultant to senior care providers.
