MINER - Malcom Bruce
Known throughout his life as “Bruce”, died on August 6, 2023 in Sarasota, Florida. Bruce was born in Buffalo, New York to Dr. G. Norris Miner
and Margarita Leonhardt Miner on June 24, 1938 and grew up in North Tonawanda, New York. Bruce graduated from North Tonawanda High School were he was Senior Class Treasurer, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar and later qualified as a Certified Public Accountant. He spent his entire career with banks and trust companies, retiring in 2003 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Brown Brothers Harriman Trust Company of Florida. He also served six years in the US Army National Guard. He is survived by Alice Ada Hopkins whom he met following the death of his late wife and who became his “lady friend” as he called her as well as his closest companion. He often told everyone he met, how Alice was crucial in the management of his life during his final illness. Their time together was too short. He is also survived by his son, John Walker Miner of Nashville, Tennessee. Bruce was the eldest of four siblings, Marcia Miner Poleon(Gerald), George Norris Miner Jr.(Audrey) and Gail Miner Easley, all of whom survive. He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Cataford Miner who died in 2022. Also surviving is his first wife and mother of his son, Eileen Lonergan Miner of Naples, Florida. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 3-5 PM at John O Roth Funeral Home, 25 William St., City of Tonawanda.
