Ralph Librock Obituary

LIBROCK - Ralph E. Age 99 of Pendleton and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, July 14, 2021. Husband of 70 years to Leslie J. (nee Whitehead) Librock; father of Ned (Sharon) Librock, David (Martha) Librock, Jeffrey Librock and Gretchen Librock; grandfather of Sarie (Eric), Christian, Jacob, Matthew (Kathryn), Brett (Heather), Emily and Jason; nine great-grandchildren; brother of the late Glenn (late Marian) Librock and Arlene (late Gene) Magner; also several nieces and nephews. Ralph was drafted during World War II and served for over three years in Alaska with the United States Army as a Quartermaster building the Alaskan Highway for North American security. Ralph was a North Tonawanda High School graduate and attended Morrisville Community College and the University of Buffalo, graduating with a degree in Business Management. He also continued his education with graduate work at Columbia Graduate School of Banking and the American Institute of Banking. Ralph served the Tonawanda communities in so many ways. He was President of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of the Tonawandas, President of The Lions Club, Trustee of the United Way and a Trustee at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. In addition, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Urban Renewal Agency and supported Friedens United Church of Christ and Salem United Church of Christ in various roles. His community service resulted with The Citizen of the Year award in 1989. He was also a talented trombone player with the Post 264 American Legion Band winning multiple state and national championships. Ralph enjoyed a rewarding career at Marine Midland and HSBC Bank, retiring after 37 years of dedicated community banking service. Ralph received excellent and compassionate care for the last five months of his life at The Brothers of Mercy in Clarence. The Librock family extends their sincere thanks for the wonderful attention and care afforded to him. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 19th, from 3-7 PM and on Tuesday, July 20th, from 3-6 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.), Tonawanda. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 21st at 11 AM in Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St., Tonawanda, NY. Please assemble at the church. A private burial will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Salem United Church of Christ Endowment Fund or to Brothers of Mercy, Clarence, NY.
