BENNETT, RAYMOND J.JR., age 67 of Buffalo, unexpectedly August 9, 2021 at his residence. He was the son of the late Raymond J. Bennett, Sr. and Deaune (nee Dwyer) Bennett, father of Natalie, Joseph (Kate), Charles (Zoe) and Gregory (Karna) Bennett, grandfather of Ryan, Maggie and Gabriel Bennett, former husband of Laurie (nee Weyland) Bennett, brother of Michele (Dennis) Donovan and long time companion of Ellen Warner Church. Also survived by nieces and nephews. A graduate of the Crane School of Music, Ray was former substitute Percussionist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra from 1975-1980 and drummer with Buffalo Swing for over 25 years. During his career he played with performers such as Aretha Franklin, The Temptations and The Four Tops and countless bands in WNY. As former owner of McLellan Music House, his dedication to music education is shown in the talent of his students, his mentorship to young musicians and as a volunteer with Peace of the City. Ray shared his original music through his group Authentic Vibe, a duo with longtime friend Steve Parisi. Friends are invited to share their "Good Vibes with Ray" by attending his Memorial Service on Saturday August 21st at 11 AM in Grove Street Christian Church, 85 Grove St. in Tonawanda.
