Walter “Wally” Charles Frech Obituary

Walter “Wally” Charles Frech Obituary

FRECH, WALTER (WALLY) CHARLES, age 90, of the City of Tonawanda passed away  peacefully after a short illness on January 31, 2022. Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Norma C.  (nee Bandy) Frech, father of Robert (Debra) Frech and Karen (Wayne Brown) Frech, grandfather of  Andrew and Samuel Frech, son of late Henry G. and Ruth (nee Graff) Frech, brother of Henry and  Marilyn Frech. He is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews.

Wally was a graduate of Tonawanda High School class of 1950 and was Honorably discharged from the  Tonawanda US Army National Guard in 1956. He was a 50 plus year member of Tonawanda Lodge 247 F  & AM, and a life member of First Presbyterian Church in Tonawanda, where he served as an Elder,  Deacon, and Usher, sang in the church choir, and was actively involved in Vacation Bible School and  loved by the children. Wally enjoyed traveling with Norma including trips to Germany, Japan, and the  Bahamas, and visiting family and friends in California, Florida, Virginia, and Canada. Wally was a wise  counselor, clock collector, Meals on Wheels deliverer, a builder and fixer of everything (he was building  a boat in his backyard when Norma came over and said “Hi” and the rest is history!) and was always “the  last one out of the room”. His favorite night of the week was “Wally Wednesdays”. His pride and joy  were his grandsons, Andrew and Samuel.

Wally’s family would like to give special acknowledgement to his dear friends Betsy, Bob and Diane,  Christian, Don and Judy, Marilee, and Tom and Maryalice. A special thanks to his care givers during his  time of illness, Dr. Andrew Symons, Lori, Mary, and Jameia.

Wally’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 12th from 11am until 1pm at First  Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad Street, Tonawanda, where a Celebration of Life will be held beginning at  1pm following the visitation. Pastor Leslie Latham will officiate.

A private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Meals on  Wheels. Condolences may be shared at www.ROTHFUNERAL.com.
